Summary
Description
In 1385, the upcoming ruler of Portugal achieved a significant triumph at the Battle of Aljubarrota, uniting the Portuguese nation against the Castilian forces.
To commemorate his win, he built the Batalha Monastery close to where he achieved victory. About seven hundred years later, the monastery, which was given into the care of the Dominicans, houses the primary collection of Portuguese Medieval stained glass.
The main chapel and the chapter house feature magnificent windows, along with a central nave standing at a height of 32.5 meters and adorned with eight columns on either side. This architectural wonder is truly a spectacle to behold.
