Summary
Description
It might seem as if the Château de Chaumont was plucked directly from Disneyland, however in reality it was constructed a millennium ago to control boundaries. Following a tumultuous past (it was torn down and subsequently reconstructed after an unsuccessful uprising against King Louis XI), the estate has flourished into a botanical paradise.
At Domaine de Chaumont-sur-Loire, art springs to life through the seamless integration of permanent displays and ever-changing seasonal attractions that together inspire a feeling of enchantment.Once you have explored the interior of the château and admired the decorations, it's time to go outside. Your visit won't be fully satisfying unless you also visit the stables built in the late 19th century, where you can see horse harnesses created by Hermès (prior to their shift toward high-end fashion).
