Summary
Description
In 1929, Germany hired Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich to design a space that would showcase the country at the Barcelona International Exposition. Despite being dismantled after the exhibition, the Pavilion endured as a lasting symbol, shaping the work of countless architects and artists, and revolutionizing the field of modern architecture.
The absolute clarity of its shapes, its simplicity, the harmonious connection between inside and outside spaces, the sharp differences in the selection of materials carefully chosen and sourced from the Alps, Tivoli, Atlas and Tinos all work together to establish a flawless harmony in this gem of contemporary architecture, whose renovation (1986) enables us to appreciate it in the present day.
