Description
Have you ever been curious about the lifestyle on a windjammer? Come aboard the Museum Ship RICKMER RICKMERS and delve into the history of this magnificent vessel, which was constructed in 1896. Discover its adventures, experience the onboard life, and embrace your inner sailor for a journey through history!
In 1896, Captain Hermann-Hinrich Ahlers set sail from Bremerhaven to Hong Kong. Joining him on this journey were a pair of helmsmen, a chef, a woodworker, a sailmaker, and a donkeyman (yes, a donkeyman!), along with 14 sailors and four cabin boys. They navigated through rough waters to bring back rice and bamboo. Supermarkets must have seemed quite appealing after that adventure, don't you think?
Explore the daily life experienced on board RICKMER RICKMERS, one of the most beloved attractions in Hamburg harbor. Roam around the corridors and decks of this authentic historical vessel, listen to fascinating tales, and immerse yourself in the ambiance!
The exhibitions and replicas are intended to give you the sensation of sailing for real, yet you are fortunate enough to alight whenever you prefer - without ever getting soaked.
