While the Panthéon may not be as famous as the Eiffel Tower or the Arc de Triomphe, it is definitely worth a visit. Located in the Latin Quarter and 5th arrondissement of Paris, this neo-Classical church offers a stunning view of the entire city from its perch atop Montagne Sainte Geneviève!
During its initial period, the Panthéon functioned as an abbey intended to honor Saint Genevieve, who is regarded as the patron saint of Paris. However, in the latter part of the 18th century, the Revolutionary administration transformed it from a church to a mausoleum.Within the building, you can find a collection of paintings portraying the life of the saint, along with the monumental tale of the origins of Christianity, the history of the French monarchy, and a Foucault's pendulum illustrating the rotation of the Earth.
Beneath us, the crypt contains a multitude of famous French figures' tombs, along with details about their life stories. Among those laid to rest are Voltaire, Rousseau, Alexandre Dumas, and Marie Curie.
